Cosmetic Dentist in Western Melbourne - General & Emergency Dental

Our clinic is fully computerised.   When we take x-rays we use a digital system that uses an ultra low dose of radiation and gives instant results, without the need for any chemicals. We can take digital photos (and video/photos) of your teeth, and show you on the screen, explaining what is happening in those areas you cant normally see. We keep these images in your profile, to enable us to monitor your progress toward optimum oral health.

For your health and safety our clinic is Amalgam and Mercury Free. We are a partner in the Australian Dental Association Victoria "Dentists for Cleaner Water" project, helping keep Victorian waterways free of harmful Mercury.

As you walk from our patient lounge to the treatment rooms, you will notice our state of the art sterilisation room where we use the latest sterilisation equipment, to ensure your visit to our clinic is hygienic and the outcomes successful. All our processes conform to the required State and Federal Government standards.

You can experience your dental treatment in the comfort of a brand new, state-of-the-art clinic in relaxing surroundings, and professional staff who really care about your wellbeing. Our treatments are always planned for the circumstances of the individual. We try to retain your oral integrity unless extraction is the only option, meaning you may be able to eat normally well into your senior years.

RCT - Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is also known as endodontic treatment.  Our dentists routinely carry out RCT (Root Canal Treatment).  During 3 appointments, they will deaden the nerve and remove it, clense and disinfect the canals of the teeth, then apply medicaments, stabilise the tooth, and then fit a final filling on the tooth.

Root Canal Treatments have the reputation of being costly and painful - but thats not really the truth.  Members of some health funds like HBA, Medibank Private have a lower pricing on Root Canal Treatments for their members.  Also members of Noble Dentist and Dentacare can access lower prices.   The actual cost will depend on the number of roots in the tooth (teeth can have from 1 to 5 roots - typically more roots in the rear teeth).   The 3 appointments are spread about 10 to 14 days apart, so will often fall into 2 or 3 pay periods, which also helps spread the cost.

After the nerve is removed at the first appointment, it is important to follow the dentists suggested schedule, so that you do not "waste" the work (and money) for the Root Canal Process.   Leaving it more than the week or two from appointment 1 to appointment 2 could lead to reinfection of the tooth, and mean starting over - so do be sure to follow up on your appointments.

Once the nerve is gone, the tooth is not receiving nutrients from the milk, cheeses and other sources of nutritiion and calcium that we need for good strong, healthy teeth.  Therefore many dentists will suggest a crown is a good idea to strengthen the tooth structure.  Some dentists will want to put the crown on right away, others will suggest a stabilisation period - and the answer is a combination of the dentists experience and the situation with your tooth in question.

While culturally we are scared of the dentist, a Root Canal really is not something to be worried about - and our team will make it as comfortable for you as possible - in the chair and on your pocket.

Root Planing - Periodontics - Periodontal treatment

Our dentists will regularly perform root planing, (or scaling & root planing) for patients who require treatment for periodontal disease in order to help make their gums healthier, and reduce the risk of losing teeth.  This is also known by some people as a "deep clean".  Using special tools, the area between the teeth and gums is cleaned for plaque/calculus build up, thus removing the bacteria that cause this gum infection.   While severe or complex cases may be referred to a Specialist Periodontist, however unlike some dentists who will not do any periodontal work, the majority of cases will be treated by our dentists.  To address a case of periodontal disease, the area between the teeth and gums may need to be cleaned on a regular basis, over a course of treatment - typically once a fortnight for 3 - 4 visits, and then a visit every 6 - 8 weeks, until you can return to your regular 6 monthly check ups.
While some dentists charge by tooth that they "clean", we charge by arch or quadrant (depending on the way your health fund charges).
The common item codes used for Periodontic services are:-

222 SRP - Scaling & Root planing - commonly called Deep Cleaning
221 Clinical Periodontal Analysis - commonly called Periodontal Charting
225 Non surgical Periodontal Analysis
213 Treatment of Acute Periodontal Infection

Teeth Whitening & Bleaching

Everyone wants to have a whiter, brighter smile – but like many you may be concerned about the outcome, and if it’s suitable and safe for you!
Trust our Dentist to give you an assessment for whitening, and carry out the whitening procedure with a Dental Professional in our state-of-the-art clinic.
To cater to the variety of options, we have developed 4 key whitening packages.
Percentages shown are for Hydrogen Peroxide (NOT the weaker Carbamide Peroxide).

Package 1 – In Chair Whitening – assessment, clean plus 1 session whitening (incl tailor made whitening trays)
The best way to do your whitening treatment for most people. A 30 minute appointment is set up for a check up and clean, and
assessment for whitening*. We will also take impressions to make your tailored whitening trays, ensuring that during follow up
home top-ups, the Visible White will be concentrated on the actual contours of your teeth. At your next appointment, over 1
hour and 15 mins our dentist will protect your gums, and apply the Visible White 2 times to give an optimum result. Visible
White is not “laser” or “Light” activated, so there is no risk of a “sunburnt” nose or lips. Home top up kit and Colgate Sensitive
paste and Brush are also included, all in a handy overnight toiletries pack. Total cost - $450.
* If it turns out that you are not a good candidate for whitening, the charge for the check up and clean is only $99 (normally $179).

Package 2 – In Chair Whitening – assessment, clean plus 2 session whitening (incl tailor made whitening trays)

The ultimate in safe whitening, carried out by a dental professional. A 30 minute appointment is set up for a check up and
clean, and assessment for whitening*. We will also take impressions to make your tailored whitening trays. At your next 2
appointments (each appointment being 1 hour 15 mins long), our dentist will treat your upper and lower teeth (concentrating
on one jaw at each appointment) using the extra precaution of the rubber dam method, and apply the Visible White 3 times to
each row of teeth to give an optimum result. Home top up kit and Colgate Sensitive paste and Brush are also included, all in a
handy overnight toiletries pack. Total cost - $650.
* If it turns out that you are not a good candidate for whitening, the charge for the check up and clean is only $99 (normally $179).

Package 3 – Assessment plus home treatment (incl tailor made whitening trays)
A safe yet economical way to carry out whitening. A 30 minute appointment is set up for a check up and clean, and assessment
for whitening with our Dentist*. We will also take impressions to make your tailored whitening trays, ensuring that during
follow up home top-ups, the Visible White will be concentrated on the actual contours of your teeth. Within 3 days you can
collect (or we can send to you Express Post at no additional cost), your tailor made whitening trays, and the Home Kit. Kit
includes:- Tailor made trays, 4 X 7% Visible White syringes, overnight toiletries bag, Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste & Brush.
Total cost - $249 (incl Express Post overnight service anywhere in Australia)
* If it turns out that you are not a good candidate for whitening, the charge for the check up and clean is only $99 (normally $179).

Package 4 – Home treatment only
If you have previously had an assessment for whitening with a dentist, and you already have your own tailor made trays, then
this option may be best for you. The kits has 4 syringes, each which will cover you for 3 days of treatment – therefore total 12 treatments.
Simply line your whitening trays with the Visible White syringe, and pop it in while you watch TV – then brush your teeth as
normal. These 3 X 1 hour treatments should be enough to bring back that “in chair” white that has faded due to your eating and
drinking habits. Collect from our clinic, or order by phone, fax or email and we will deliver to you by Express Post overnight.
7% Kit includes:- 4 X 7% Visible White syringes, overnight toiletries bag, Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste & Brush.
Total cost - $69 (incl Express Post overnight service anywhere in Australia)
9% Kit includes:- 4 X 9% Visible White syringes, overnight toiletries bag, Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste & Brush.
Total cost - $99 (incl Express Post overnight service anywhere in Australia)

Caring for you in every way

We are happy to arrange a consultation, and try to assist you with the best cosmetic and functional results for you, at the best possible price.   We get many calls asking the price of these services over the phone - but the answer is different for everyone - and we will provide a full treatment plan for you once we have had you in for a consultation.

Your treatment plan will take into account your specific circumstances, your wishes, and your budget - with a view to providing you the optimum outcome. After all - the price is not the only factor - your teeth are for life and you want to know you are in safe, caring hands.

Nothing beats a personalised consultation, however several times a year we provide information evenings with guest speakers, where you can find out information, and speak to our dentists in general terms about the procedures and costs - before making an appointment to discuss a treatment plan for your specific circumstances. After all, we want you to be completely at ease with our team, and understand the treatment that you will be undertaking, so that you will participate in getting and keeping your teeth looking fantastic.

For larger treatment plans, we offer finance solutions.  Of course you can use Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Eftpos, and if you are a member of a health fund you only pay the gap (after swiping your membership card).  Members of Noble Dentist (www.nobledentist.com.au) are also able to save on their treatment costs at our clinic.   We also offer Care Credit to assist with covering the costs of major dental work.
