Myth 1: The whiter your teeth, the healthier they are.

Myth 2: Sugar is the top cause of tooth decay.
Most of us have heard for years that sugar can rot your teeth, but that’s really only half true. The real issue with eating too much sugar is the bacteria that forms in your mouth as the breakdown of sucrose occurs. As bacteria forms, it’s not the sugar itself that causes tooth decay—it’s the bacteria in your mouth that feeds on sugar as its energy source to build and spread. This is why it’s so important to brush your teeth after consuming sugary foods or drinks.
Myth 3: Mouthwash containing alcohol is best.
